Buried treasure

This tactile card is just the thing for those pirate-loving children. The parrot and pile of coins on the central motif are decoupaged which make the card more interesting for youngsters' fingers.

A square hammer ivory card blank has been used here. To this, add an 11cm square of black textured card with double-sided tape. Print the blue pirate background onto hammer white paper and add a 9cm square of this to the black textured panel.

Print this sheet onto white hammer card and cut out one of the smaller treasure chest pictures together with the parrot and coin decoupage pieces (a little fiddly!) Assemble the decoupage pieces with sticky pads. I've used chalks around the edge of the picture and also on the coins and the chest to add a bit more depth and interest (fix with hairspray afterwards).

Add the treasure chest picture to a slightly larger piece of silver metallic card so that there's a small border. Add the panel to the card blank using sticky pads or fun foam and double-sided tape.

Finally, cut out a sword, barrel and jolly roger and add them to the card blank with sticky pads. Add a little brown chalk around the edges of the barrel to add interest.
